A year ago, I wrote this blog… I titled it “MY GOAL, WHAT IS YOURS?” I won’t lie I got a little teary eyed reading it this week, but you’ll have to wait and see at the end why…
PLEASE read to the end…
My goal is to become a published author! What’s your goal?
My plan on how I WILL achieve this goal…
PERSERVERANCE — DILLIGENCE — CONSTANCY — CONTINUANCE — DEDICATION — ENDURANCE — PERSISTENCE — TENACITY — STICK-TO-ITIVENESS — DETERMINATION — PURPOSEFULLNESS — STEADFASTNESS — STAMINA
WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE…
REPEAT
PERSERVERANCE — DILLIGENCE — CONSTANCY — CONTINUANCE — DEDICATION — ENDURANCE — PERSISTENCE — TENACITY — STICK-TO-ITIVENESS — DETERMINATION — PURPOSEFULLNESS — STEADFASTNESS — STAMINA
WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE…
Becoming a published author is not easy. Submitting to and choosing various agencies is not easy. Putting myself out there is not easy. Waiting to hear what people think about what I’ve written is not easy. Constantly trying to focus on the here and now while every fiber of my being craves to be published is not easy.
Guess what?
If it were easy, then everyone would be doing it. Right? I’m not really looking for easy. I’m looking for completion, personal accomplishment, and achievement!
Goals…
There are many definitions of a goal. There are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-oriented) goals, stretch goals, BHAG’s (Big hairy audacious goals), and many more. Books and books have been written on how to set and achieve goals. My definition of a goal is more like a feeling. A goal is that burning desire inside… it’s that feeling that won’t rest until it’s purpose has been accomplished.
KEEP PURSUING!
If you have a goal you want to reach, I say to you DO IT! It may not be easy, but it will be worth it to you in the end!
UPDATE: Part 2
GOAL ACHIEVED!!!! I HAVE A TRADITIONAL PUBLISHER AND A SIGNED CONTRACT! My first children’s book will be published and available fall of 2017. A big thank you to Sandy Fuller my agent from Alp Arts and Tanna Derby with MacLaren-Cochrane Publishing and last but not least my niece Alice for the story inspiration!
When Alice decides to move her bedroom outside, she doesn’t consider the lurking creatures or consequences…she can only imagine never having to be inside again! Mom plays into her young daughter’s plan, a smart and savvy strategy, to be sure. Alice must make up her own mind about the pros and cons of outdoor-living…and the outcome is pleasing to everyone! No doubt many kids will try it out for themselves when I LOVE OUTSIDE hits their bookshelves!
I can’t wait to see the success of I LOVE OUTSIDE!!!
This was my goal… Now what is yours! I’d love to hear from you as you accomplish your goals too!!!
Congratulations Amy! I think perseverance is your middle name. I’m so excited to see your writing career success!
